United Impact Vision and Mission

What we believe

We believe that the NRPF policy is inhumane state violence. It causes homelessness, destitution, poor health, and implies that some people do not deserve to be in the UK. It causes people to be afraid to leave domestic abuse situations.

We oppose the hostile immigration environment.  We believe that it is racist, oppressive and discriminatory. It makes people feel unwanted.

We believe that immigration costs and the Immigration Health Surcharge are modern day slavery. It removes freedom and independence. They force people into a cycle of work, debt, exploitation, destitution, malnutrition, dangerous health conditions, and generational trauma.

We believe that local authority support for families with NRPF, under section 17 of the Children Act 1989, provides inadequate financial support, and in most cases inadequate accommodation. We believe that local authorities’ hostile gatekeeping of section 17 support is keeping families in destitution.

We believe that all people are the same and deserve equal rights, adults and children.

We believe that all migrants deserve equal access to work, housing, financial independence and education.

We stand for humanity.

What we do

United Impact aims to end poverty and destitution, by campaigning through the lens of NRPF.

United Impact aims to be a voice for the voiceless. We speak to politicians, local authorities, and many other organisations, to discuss the negative impact of the NRPF policy, the hostile environment and to campaign for change.

We raise awareness of the reality of the effects of the hostile environment on individuals and families, especially the effect on children, who are the future. We provide information to migrants to learn about their rights and where they can seek support.

We collaborate with other groups of people with lived experience of NRPF, in solidarity, to resist the isolation caused by the hostile environment.  We support each other in our campaign work.

We also focus on our wellbeing as a group, and support each other in a safe space.

We demand

An end to the NRPF policy.

An end to the hostile environment.

All migrants have access to safe and adequate housing and financial support when or where needed.

All migrants have access to free NHS care.

A society where everyone has equal rights, where migrants are valued and not oppressed.
